Finally, An Easy Way to Include Images in Your LinkedIn Profile
Chris Heiler | July 28, 2010

David Bockman, a landscape architect and Facebook friend, recently turned me on to a new website that allows you to post images of your work online for absolutely free. The service is called Behance.

I've written about the value in putting your landscaping portfolio online in the past, so I'll keep this brief (I've written about Flickr as well as Carbonmade).

Here are four reasons I recommend posting your landscaping portfolio online:

  1. You can access your photos from anywhere with a laptop, a smart phone or even an iPad.
  2. Potential clients can view your work on their own time, before they meet with you.
  3. Services such as Flickr and Carbonmade are simple to update and also make it easy to share your work across multiple social networks.
  4. If you don't have a company website, services like Carbonmade give you the opportunity to share your work online inexpensively.

Introducing Behance.net

Behance is very similar to Carbonmade in that it enables creative designers of all sorts to share their work online.

There are two big differences that set Behance apart from Carbonmade and Flickr. First, Behance will host an unlimited number of projects for absolutely free. While Carbonmade does offer a free service, in order to host more than five projects (seven images each) you will need to pay $12.00 per month. Flickr's Pro account is $25.00 per year.

The big advantage in using Behance is its integration with LinkedIn. LinkedIn is the #1 social networking website for professionals, yet creative-types like those of us in the Green Industry are not able to share images of our work with our connections.

Now, a new application developed by LinkedIn and Behance changes that. The application is called Creative Portfolio Display. The application places your projects and images hosted with Behance directly into your LinkedIn profile.

Now your network on LinkedIn can really see and appreciate what you do as a Green Industry business.

The video below walks you through how to sync Behance with LinkedIn and add your landscaping portfolio to your LinkedIn profile.

You can view my Behance portfolio on my LinkedIn profile here.

Are you posting images of your work anywhere online besides a traditional company website? What services are you using? Please share your comments below.
