New LinkedIn Application Lets You Find and Follow Your Connections on Twitter
Chris Heiler | June 9, 2010

While Facebook and Twitter continue to generate the most buzz in the online world, the original social network, LinkedIn, is still the most popular platform for landscape business owners and Green Industry professionals.

LinkedIn has been the traditional social networking starting point for landscape professionals. Many were building connections on LinkedIn at a time when MySpace ruled the social media world and before Twitter transformed the medium.

In November of 2009, LinkedIn partnered with Twitter to launch a LinkedIn application called Tweets. An update to this application was released this past March which I think will be valuable to the thousands of Green Industry professionals already utilizing LinkedIn.

The Tweets application is a great "jumping off point" for professionals on LinkedIn who want to expand their online social networking presence by using Twitter.

Who should you follow on Twitter?

I suggest following people you are already connected to and have a relationship with on LinkedIn. It's natural to move the conversation from one platform to the other. I compare it to moving a discussion from the board room to your living room.

LinkedIn is to networking what Twitter is to happy hour. This can take your LinkedIn business relationships to a more personal level.

The Tweets application gives LinkedIn users the ability to quickly find and automatically follow their LinkedIn connections who are also on Twitter.

I was surprised to find that nearly 25% of my LinkedIn connections are also Twitter users.

The short video below shows you how to add the Tweets application to LinkedIn and how to begin following your LinkedIn connections on Twitter.
