The Chameleon: All Things to Everyone
I was having such a great day I had to have some fun with this week's Profit Tip. I dropped Charlie off at day care and on my way home I heard one of my favorite songs from the 80's--Run Runaway by Slade. Not to get off topic here, but Slade absolutely made Quiet Riot. So, as I drove around waiting for the song to end (does anyone else do this?), a verse stood out to me--the lyrics below. The rest of the song makes no sense. See chameleon lying there in the sun, All things to everyone, Run runaway! You better believe I sing when I'm driving...loud; and I get the air drums banging. I dreamed of being a rock star but my parents wouldn't let me get an electric guitar back in '85. I settled for landscape design. Okay, back to the lyrics. You see where I'm going with this. Now, watch the video below of author Jim Collins explaining the Hedgehog Concept from his classic Good to Great. I don't think I need to add much more. You need to make a decision: Do you want to be a chameleon or a hedgehog? To Your Success, Chris Heiler P.S.- You can now try LandscapeLeadership.com for 21 days for only $1.
